Live, Trauma-Informed Reiki Certification Training
Learn Usui Reiki in a small, intentional group setting — taught online by a certified Reiki Master Practitioner who meets you exactly where you are.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle, hands-on energy healing practice rooted in a Japanese system developed by Mikao Usui in the early 1900s. The word itself comes from two Japanese words: Rei, meaning universal or guiding, and Ki, meaning life force energy. Together they point to something that has been recognized across cultures for thousands of years — that there is an energy present in all living things, and that we can work with it intentionally to support wellbeing.
In practice, Reiki is simple. A practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above the body, and energy flows. That's it. There are no machines, no diagnoses, no prescriptions. Just presence, intention, and the quiet work of supporting the body's own capacity to regulate and heal. Sessions are typically done lying down fully clothed, and most people describe them as deeply relaxing, sometimes profoundly so.
Reiki supports relaxation, nervous system regulation, emotional processing, and the body's natural capacity to restore itself. It is not a replacement for medical care or therapy, and it does not diagnose or treat conditions. It is a complementary practice, meaning it works alongside whatever else you are already doing to take care of yourself.
You do not need any prior experience, spiritual background, or special ability to learn Reiki. Anyone with an open mind and a willingness to practice can do this. The energy was already there. This training simply helps you work with it more consciously.
Why Learn Reiki?
People come to Reiki for many different reasons, and all of them are valid. Some are living with chronic pain, chronic illness, or a nervous system that rarely feels settled. They are looking for something they can do for themselves, in their own body, on their own timeline, that actually helps. Reiki 1 gives you that. Self-treatment becomes one of the most reliable tools you have for self-soothing, grounding, and coming back to yourself on hard days.
Some are navigating grief, burnout, trauma, or the kind of emotional weight that doesn't have a clean fix. Reiki doesn't promise to erase any of that, but it does create conditions where your nervous system can soften, where something that has been braced for a long time can finally exhale. That matters more than it might sound.
Some people find that Reiki 2 deepens this even further. Working with the sacred symbols, particularly Sei He Ki, the mental and emotional symbol, opens up a layer of self-healing that goes beyond relaxation into the deeper patterns of how we think, feel, and hold experience in the body.
Many students describe Reiki 2 as the level where the practice really starts to feel transformative. And some people reach Reiki 2 and realize they want to go all the way. Reiki Master certification is for those who feel called to carry this practice forward, whether that means teaching it, passing attunements to others, or simply deepening their own connection to the energy at the most complete level possible. Mastery is not about status or hierarchy. It is about commitment to the practice and a desire to pass something meaningful on. If you feel that pull, trust it.
Some are drawn to Reiki because they want to support the people they love, or because they are building toward a professional practice. Some are simply curious, and that is enough.
Whatever brought you here, you are welcome. These classes are designed for self-healers, caregivers, and aspiring practitioners alike. You do not have to know where this is going to begin.
Trauma-Informed from the Ground Up Every class I teach is grounded in an understanding of how trauma affects the nervous system, the body, and the healing process. This isn't a buzzword here. It shapes how I teach, how I hold space, and how I approach every student's experience. You will never be pushed past your capacity in my classes. Consent and choice are built into everything we do.
Live and Interactive All certification classes are taught live over Zoom, with plenty of time for questions, discussion, and real connection. You are not watching a pre-recorded video. You are in class with me, in real time.
Small, Intentional Groups Classes are kept intentionally small so that every student gets the attention and support they need. This is not a lecture to a crowd. It is a community of people learning together.
Distance Attunements That Are Real Your attunements are performed live during class over distance. Distance attunements are not a lesser version of in-person attunements. Reiki is not limited by physical proximity, and many students find distance attunements just as profound as in-person ones.
Ongoing Support My support does not end when class does. Every student has access to one on one support from me as they develop their practice. You are not alone in this.
Lifetime Access to Course Materials All written course content lives on your student portal and is yours to return to anytime. Whether you want to review a lesson six months after class or reference something years later, it will be there.
Why learn with Restorative Healing Haven?
Do online Reiki Classes work?
Yes. Reiki is not limited by physical distance. The same energy that flows through an in-person session flows through a distance session, and the same is true for attunements. Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen, the distance symbol introduced in Reiki 2, teaches us that the limitations of space and time are ultimately an illusion. That principle is not just something we learn in class. It is built into the very structure of how this training is delivered.
That said, I understand the skepticism. If you have questions about how distance attunements work, I am always happy to talk through it before you enroll. Reach out through the contact page anytime.

A NOTE ON WHAT REIKI 1 AND 2 MAKE POSSIBLE
Reiki is not currently regulated in the United States, which means there is no legal requirement to complete a specific level before working with others. That said, I want to be honest with you: Reiki 1 is a beautiful and complete beginning, and it gives you everything you need for self-practice and informal sharing with people you know and trust. If you are considering offering Reiki professionally, I strongly recommend completing at least Reiki 2, practicing consistently for a significant period of time, and ideally having a complementary professional background or training. Your future clients deserve a practitioner who has put in the time, and you deserve to feel genuinely ready.
About your Teacher
Monica Munson is the founder of Restorative Healing Haven and a certified Usui Reiki Master Practitioner, holistic complementary therapist, and sound healing practitioner based in Michigan. She holds an NCIDQ certification in interior design and spent eight years working in corporate interior design, where she developed training programs, trained hundreds of dealers and industry professionals, and presented at large-scale conferences. That background in accessible, sensory-aware, and inclusive design, combined with years of experience creating and delivering education to diverse audiences, quietly shapes everything about how she teaches and holds space for healing.
Monica's path to this work was not a straight line. She lives with PTSD, autism, hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, POTS, chronic pain, migraines, fatigue, and dynamic disability, and uses a wheelchair daily. Her own experience of navigating healing from inside a body that doesn't follow the rules has given her something that cannot be taught in a certification program: a genuine, bone-deep understanding of what it means to need care that actually meets you where you are.
That understanding is the foundation of her trauma-informed approach. She knows what it feels like when a healing space assumes too much about your capacity, your energy, or your ability to show up in a particular way. She builds her classes to be different. Pacing matters here. Accessibility matters here. Your nervous system matters here.
Monica's Reiki lineage traces back to Mikao Usui through Chujiro Hayashi, Hawayo Takata, Beth Gray, Barbara Livingstone, Valerie and Ian Haag, and Danielle Stimpson. She brings to her teaching not only the wisdom passed down through that lineage but her own years of practice, study, and lived experience as someone who has relied on these tools in real and difficult moments.
When you train with Monica, you are not just learning Reiki. You are learning it from someone who has actually needed it, and who teaches it because she believes in what it can do.
