Reiki 1
This course is your introduction to Reiki: what it is, where it comes from, and how to begin working with it in your own life. You'll receive your attunements, explore the foundations of this practice, and start developing a relationship with energy that's genuinely yours.
This training is taught through a trauma-informed lens. That means we move at a pace that respects your nervous system, consent is woven into everything we do, and there's no one right way to experience any of this. You don't need to do it perfectly. You just need to show up.
By the end of this course, you'll understand what Reiki is and how it works, know your lineage and the history behind this practice, and have the tools to begin practicing on yourself and others. With care, with integrity, and with confidence.
Currently each class is getting scheduled on a 1:1 basis so please contact Monica for scheduling at monica@restorativehealinghaven.com

Lesson 1: What this course is and how it works
Reiki isn't a performance. It's a relationship: with energy, with your body, and with yourself.

Lesson 2: A trauma-informed approach to Reiki training
Nothing in this course requires you to push through discomfort to get the benefit. That's actually the opposite of how Reiki works.

Lesson 3: The Reiki precepts: not rules, just reminders
Just for today is doing a lot of work in those lines. It's not asking you to solve worry forever. It's asking you to come back to the present moment.

Lesson 1: Understanding Reiki: energy, language, and meaning
Reiki doesn't force anything. It doesn't override your body's wisdom. It simply creates conditions where your system can do more of what it already knows how to do.

Lesson 2: What Reiki is not: boundaries and ethics
There is no failing at Reiki. Struggling or having hard days doesn't mean you're doing it wrong.

Lesson 3: Reiki and the nervous system: why it works
When the nervous system finally softens, there's often something that's been waiting to move through.

Lesson 1: Mikao Usui and the origins of Reiki
Usui didn't invent the energy, and he may not have invented the symbols either. What he did was develop a clear, teachable system that could be passed from person to person.

Lesson 2: Hayashi, Takata, and how Reiki traveled west
Every Western Reiki lineage, including yours, traces back through her. She is the reason this practice exists in the form we know it today outside of Japan.

Lesson 3: Your lineage: the chain back to Usui
You are next. Your name belongs at the bottom of this chart, and someday, if you choose to teach, someone else's name will follow yours.

Lesson 1: What an attunement is and what to expect
Distance attunements are not a lesser version of in-person attunements. Reiki is not limited by physical proximity.

Lesson 2: The 21-day integration period: going gently
Lazy Reiki is better than no Reiki. Resting your hands on your body with intention, even while you're watching TV or lying in bed, is still practice. It still counts.

Lesson 1: Self-treatment: building your practice your way
There is no version of Reiki self-treatment that is too small to count.

Lesson 2: Calling in Reiki: intention, consent, and grounding
Please support my body in a way that feels safe, gentle, and within my capacity. Please honor my boundaries, autonomy, and nervous system.

Lesson 3: Giving Reiki to others: trauma-informed session basics
Reiki 1 is a beautiful and complete beginning. It gives you everything you need to practice on yourself and to share Reiki informally with people you know and trust.

Lesson 4: Accessibility and comfort considerations
The most valuable thing you can offer is not a scripted session. It's flexibility, genuine curiosity about their needs, and a space where they don't have to perform wellness to receive care.

Lesson 1: Scope of practice and legal basics
Be honest about what Reiki is, what it can support, and what it cannot do. That honesty is the foundation of trust, and trust is what makes this work meaningful.

Lesson: Resources and further exploration
This list is not homework. These are simply resources I love and return to, offered in case you want to keep going at your own pace.
