What Reiki actually is (and why I teach it to people who thought it wasn't for them)
When I started learning Reiki, I had a lot of questions. I didn't know if it was "real." I didn't know if I was spiritual enough, calm enough, or intuitive enough to do it. I definitely didn't know that one day I'd be a Reiki Master teaching it to other people.
If you've ever been curious about Reiki but felt like it lived in a world that wasn't quite yours, I want to talk to you.
What Reiki actually is
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice that works with your body's natural capacity to regulate and restore itself. A Reiki practitioner uses light touch (or hands hovering above the body) to support that process.
From a nervous system lens, Reiki creates conditions for the body to shift out of a stress response. That's not magic. That's what happens when we feel safe, held, and not rushed. Reiki provides that experience in a structured, intentional way.
It's also a practice you can learn yourself and use daily. That's what my Reiki classes focus on.
Who Reiki classes are for
My classes are designed with trauma survivors, disabled people, neurodivergent folks, chronically ill people, caregivers, and people who are just exhausted in mind. You don't need to fit a certain mold. You don't need prior experience. If you're a yoga teacher, a therapist, a stay-at-home parent, or someone who has never done anything like this before, there's a place for you here.
You don't need to be "spiritual" in a specific way. You don't need to believe a certain thing. You just need curiosity and a willingness to show up.
What you'll learn
In my Reiki Level 1 class, you'll learn the history and foundation of Reiki, how energy and intention work in practice, how to use Reiki on yourself and others, and how to actually make this sustainable in real life.
There's no rigid protocol here. No perfect hand positions you have to memorize. My approach is that any Reiki you can do is good Reiki. If you're lying in bed, exhausted, and you put your hands somewhere on your body with intention, that counts. That's the practice. We build from what's actually available to you, not from some idealized version of what healing is supposed to look like.
Why I teach it this way
I'm a Reiki Master, a Certified Holistic Complementary Therapist, and someone who lives with PTSD, chronic illness, and a whole lot of nervous system complexity. I don't teach Reiki as a spiritual performance or a quick fix. I teach it as a sustainable, accessible tool that can complement the other healing work you're already doing.
My classes are small, paced thoughtfully, and trauma-informed.
If you've been on the fence, I'd love for you to come.
